Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ParksQuest LLC (“ParksQuest,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the ParksQuest website, mobile application, and related services.
Information we collect
Account and sign-in information
When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive information made available by the sign-in provider, which may include your email address, display name, provider identifier, and authentication tokens needed to maintain your session. ParksQuest uses Firebase Authentication to manage application sign-in.
Profiles and profile claims
You may create managed profiles for family members, companions, or pets. A managed profile includes a display name and its ParksQuest activity. If you invite someone to claim a managed profile, ParksQuest stores the invited email address, invitation status, expiration information, and claim history needed to complete or revoke the transfer.
Park activity and content you provide
ParksQuest stores information you choose to record, including:
- park check-ins and visit dates;
- selected activities, trails, bodies of water, site numbers, distances, ratings, and comments;
- quest enrollment, progress, and completion;
- earned badges and badge progress;
- profile and account preferences, including a default state.
Location information
When you use nearby-park features, the mobile app may request access to your device location to identify parks near you. Check-ins are associated with the park and visit information you choose to submit; ParksQuest does not provide GPS tracking or store a route history as part of a check-in. You can deny location permission and search for parks manually.
Website usage and technical information
ParksQuest may collect limited technical and usage information needed to operate, secure, diagnose, and improve the service. This may include browser or device information, IP-derived information, pages or features used, timestamps, error information, and similar operational data. The ParksQuest website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate website usage.
Support communications
If you contact ParksQuest, we receive the email address and information you include in the message so that we can respond and investigate the request.
How we use information
We use information to:
- authenticate users and maintain account sessions;
- provide profiles, check-ins, nearby-park features, quests, badges, and progress tracking;
- support profile invitations and account continuity;
- operate, protect, troubleshoot, and improve ParksQuest;
- respond to support, privacy, and deletion requests;
- detect misuse and enforce applicable terms.
Service providers
ParksQuest uses service providers to operate the service. Depending on the feature used, these providers may process information on our behalf:
- Microsoft Azure for application hosting, databases, and image or file storage;
- Google Firebase for application authentication;
- Google Analytics for website usage analytics;
- Google and Apple when you choose their sign-in services;
- SMTP2GO for service-related email delivery.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices. ParksQuest does not authorize them to use ParksQuest account information for unrelated purposes.
When information may be disclosed
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to operate the service through the providers listed above, comply with law or valid legal process, protect users or the public, investigate abuse or security incidents, or protect ParksQuest’s rights and systems.
Data retention
Account and profile information is retained while needed to provide your ParksQuest account and related features. Support communications and routine security or operational records may be retained for reasonable business, troubleshooting, fraud-prevention, and legal purposes.
When an account is permanently deleted, ParksQuest deletes the account, profiles still owned by it, check-ins, activities, badges, badge progress, quest enrollments, profile-claim records involving the account, and profile-specific park statistics. Profiles previously claimed and transferred to another account remain with their current owner. Infrastructure backups and temporary service-provider logs may expire according to normal backup and operational retention cycles and are not used to restore a deleted ParksQuest account.
Your choices and controls
- You can review and update profile information through ParksQuest.
- You can choose whether to grant device-location permission.
- You can sign out at any time.
- You can permanently delete your account in the mobile app or through the Account Deletion page.

Account deletion
Account deletion is permanent. After successful deletion, signing in again with the same Google or Apple account creates a new, empty ParksQuest account. See Delete Your ParksQuest Account.
Security
ParksQuest uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information, including authenticated API access, encrypted network connections, access controls, rate limiting, and secure credential storage. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Children
ParksQuest is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. A parent or guardian may manage a ParksQuest profile for a family member without creating a separate sign-in account for that person.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as ParksQuest changes. The effective date at the top of the page identifies the current version.
